Kim touched the touchpad in 16:43.29 in the women's 1,500-meter freestyle at the 2024 International Swimming Federation Management World Cup on Friday at the Munhak Park Taehwan Swimming Pool in Incheon, South Korea.

Major international events such as the Olympics and Asian Games are held on the long course (50 meters), while the short course is used for the short course World Cup and Short Course World Championships organized by the International Swimming Federation.

Kim's time of 16:43.29 remains the Korean record in the short course women's 1,500-meter freestyle.

Kim, one of South Korea's top long-distance swimmers, won the women's 1,500-meter freestyle at the 2024 Korean National Team Management Trials in March this year.

In the men's 100-meter freestyle preliminaries that followed, Kim Young-bum (Gangwon Chego) finished first overall, ahead of Hwang Sun-woo, Yang Jae-hoon (Gangwon Special Provincial Government) and Fan Zhan-li (China).

Kim crossed the line in 46.78, while Fan Zhanle (6th-47.34), Yang Jaehoon (7th-47.41) and Hwang Sunwoo (8th-47.42) joined him in the final.

The men's 100-meter freestyle final will be held at 8:28 p.m. tonight.
